Full-day Seminar, 8:30a.m.-5:30p.m.
The "Wireless Web" - the availability of Internet content via portable, wireless devices - is on the rise. Creating usable content for the plethora of PDAs, cell phones, and other electronic devices is a real challenge, since each type of device poses new usability barriers beyond those of the traditional desktop/laptop PC and web browser combination. To succeed at this lofty task, usability specialists need to learn a new suite of techniques to augment their usability repertoire; additionally, it is critical to have an understanding of the technologies involved in this new generation of Web-savvy devices and their inherent limitations.
This seminar is for anyone who's involved in making sure their web content is usable and accessible under a variety of conditions, platforms, and architectures. You'll take part in a lecture/lab session in which we cover new usability techniques specific to the wireless web. You will engage in a series of hands-on sessions centered on a usability inspection of a "test" site, using a handheld web device to be provided as part of the workshop.
You will walk away from this workshop with a refined understanding of how to apply usability concepts to a variety of handheld wireless devices, and a day of hands-on experience performing a usability evaluation of wireless web content.
